Our county used to be called Mosquito County! The Indian River Mosquito Control District (IRMCD) an independent taxing district was created in 1925 by an act of the Florida Legislature. It was the first mosquito control program created in Florida and coincided with the creation of Indian River County. Since that time, the District has worked to provide the best scientific mosquito control methods with special attention paid to the environmental sensitivity of habitats along the Treasure Coast.LEARN MORE
