What You Need to Know After the Storm
What You Need To Know:
The Indian River Mosquito Control District team is monitoring the situation and is currently inspecting the county for areas of mosquito production. An increase in floodwater mosquito populations is expected after the storm passes due to heavy rains and possible flooding. The District is monitoring the situation and is prepared to take action to reduce mosquito populations once the storm has safely passed. Our staff is currently assessing the safe passage of roadways and preparing the treatment trucks. We are not giving out any products, please protect yourself and your family and follow the guidelines for mosquito prevention. Prevent mosquito bites by wearing long pants and a long-sleeved shirt, using insect repellent, staying indoors at dusk and dawn, using air conditioning, when possible, not leaving doors and windows open, and installing or repairing damaged window or door screens. For additional information please visit the CDC website.
Please note later on during the week 10/16/24-10/18/24 the winds may limit control opportunities and the District may be unable to send the treatment trucks. We will resume treatment as soon as the winds are below the threshold. We anticipate high mosquito populations and are looking at all control options. Thank you for your patience and please do not hesitate to reach out to the District if you have any concerns.
If you have any questions, please get in touch with the District at 772-562-2393 or email us at irmcd@irmcd.org. Thank you and be safe.
